However, donning a Kurti and expressing the freedom that comes with it requires one to have an ideal Kurti that suits their body. Not every Kurti can fit and look great on every woman. The definition of an ideal Kurtiis, of course, subjective and reaching a unanimous decision might prove to be tough, but the definition of body shapes is quite well known and it could help in deciding the type of Kurti one could wear. Ideally, there are five types of Body shapes –

  • APPLE

Apple isdefined by the concentration of weight around themidsection of the body. Women having this shape tend to have medium or large bust size with a negligible waistline.

  • PEAR

This body shape encompasses small shoulders with a massive amount of weight located near hips and thighs.

  • INVERTED TRIANGLE

This body shape is marked by rather broad shoulders, skinny thighs and negligible waistline.

  • SQUARE

This body shape has no curves with the width of upper and lower body being the same.

  • HOURGLASS

This body shape has upper body and hips with analmost equivalent width and a tiny waistline. This type of body is generally very curvy.

To choose a Kurti according to one’s body shape, one should follow these guidelines –

  • APPLE

Since in this type of body shape, the weight is located near the midriff, hence V-shaped Kurti with embellishments near the neckline helps in diverting attention from there. Also, to accentuate slim legs, leggings could be used. Generally, dark colours should be preferred.

  • PEAR

Since this body shape is heavy, longer Kurti with an A-line would help in covering up that extra flesh. Printed textures near the shoulders can work wonders with this body shape if coupled with Boat or Mandarin neckline. Generally, lighter colours should be preferred.

  • INVERTED TRIANGLE

This body shape is good with collarlessKurti. Low U and V-neckline, as well as a tiny bit of waist definition, suits this body shape nicely. Just avoid some strong shoulder detailing.

  • SQUARE

Since this body isn’t curvaceous, the use of belted Kurti can be implemented as they would carve out a pretty decent curve in the waistline.  A heavy material or design can be used to add depth while deep neckline Kurti will look good too. At all costs, avoid loose and extra tight fitting clothes.

  • HOURGLASS

This is actually a perfect type of body shape; hence any type of Kurti would look great on these. But just to be sure, Kurti that could define the waistline and having a length that extends just below the hips would do wonders. Avoid Kurti that hides that curvy waist!

Conclusion:

These guidelines are more than enough to help one decide about the Kurti they might want. For a better catalogue of custom Kurti, one could turn towards kurtis online. As they say, every woman is different. Then why should all Kurti be the same?

SEE YOU ALL 🙂
